Rosewood House is a family-run care home in a converted Georgian manor, offering residential and dementia care for up to 34 residents. We've been doing this for over 35 years — and it still matters to us every single day.
When Margaret Ashworth opened Rosewood House in 1987, she had a simple idea: look after people the way you'd want your own parents looked after. Her granddaughter Sarah runs the home today, and nothing about that idea has changed.
The building itself is a Grade II listed Georgian manor with six acres of gardens. We've spent years adapting it for modern care while keeping the character that makes it feel like a real home, not an institution.
We take 34 residents, which is deliberate. It means staff know everyone by name. It means we notice when someone's having a bad day. It means something.
We don't force people into categories. Every care plan starts with listening.
For older people who need some help with daily life — getting dressed, managing medication, meals — but who want to keep as much independence as they can. Most of our residents come to us when living alone has become too difficult or too lonely.
Our dedicated memory wing has 12 rooms, a secure garden, and staff trained specifically in dementia support. We focus on routine, familiarity, and patience. We also work closely with families so they know what to expect as things change.
Short stays from one week upwards, usually to give family carers a proper break. We treat respite residents exactly the same as everyone else — same rooms, same meals, same attention. It's not a lesser service.
We welcome day visitors three times a week. It's a chance for people living at home to have company, a hot meal, and some activities without committing to full-time care. It also helps families who work during the day.
We have a full-time activities coordinator. On any given week you'll find music sessions, gardening, art, baking, armchair exercises, and visiting entertainers. We also do regular outings — garden centres, pub lunches, the local theatre.
Our kitchen team makes everything from scratch with fresh, seasonal ingredients. Residents choose from a daily menu. If someone wants something that's not on the menu, we'll make it anyway. Special diets are handled without fuss.

These are from real family members. Names changed for privacy.
We have 45 staff across all departments. Here's who leads the team.
Sarah took over from her grandmother in 2015. She's a qualified nurse with 18 years' experience in elderly care. She knows every resident by name.
James has been with Rosewood for 11 years, starting as a care assistant. He leads our dementia wing and oversees all training programmes.
Priya visits three times a week and is on call for emergencies. She works with local GPs and hospitals to make sure our residents get quick, joined-up medical attention.
We welcome visitors any day of the week. No appointment needed — but if you'd like us to set aside time for a proper tour, give us a ring.
